This panel, hosted by Jules Barker, will look at what Net Zero looks like for the UK building market and how energy demand and sustainability will play out in the coming years.

Joined on the panel by Kas Mohammed - vice president of digital energy at Schneider Electric, Claire Curran – MD, Linaker, Jonathon Winston - manager, Low Carbon Workplace Carbon Trust, Magnus Leask – technical director, Hoare Lea and Anna Turitsyna, there will be a deep dive into sustainability, net zero and how energy prices will shape the future of buildings and their ability to be controlled and monitored.

Next year she will become the 3rd female president of the UKs largest trade association in the built environment - BESA. Having trail blazed in a seriously male dominated sector, Linaker, Claire’s 4th child, has seen 120% organic growth in 4 years. Kas Mohammed

Kas Mohammed is the Vice President of the Digital Buildings division at Schneider Electric in the UK and Ireland. His team work within both new and existing buildings across Commercial Real Estate, Healthcare, Life Sciences and Education segments to deliver systems which ensure optimal efficiency and user comfort across all stages of the building life cycle. Kas is passionate about improving sustainability across the built environment and reducing carbon emissions in our sector.

Magnus Leask

Director - Intelligent Buildings Group

Hoare Lea

Magnus is the Director of the Hoare Lea Intelligent Building Group which includes the Audiovisual, ICT and Building Intelligence departments.

My background includes a Masters from Southampton University in Information Systems, initially working in the Sports Marketing ICT space, designing and delivering ICT solutions for major sporting events across 20 countries, including the Olympics and the FIFA World Cup experience.

My role at Hoare Lea focused upon the design and specification of ICT & Smart Buildings Infrastructure across a range of sectors.

Our focus is the utilization of technology to drive additional visibility and functionality to building stakeholders, which naturally drives tenant satisfaction, Return on Investment and aligns to ESG Strategies.

Hoare Lea’s Intelligent Buildings Group is based at Kings Cross.

Jonathan Winston

Manager

Carbon Trust

Jonathan is an expert in sustainable real estate, building performance and technologies, carbon reduction strategies and climate change mitigation with 15 years of experience in the sector.

Following a masters in Civil and Architectural engineering studied at University of Bath, he joined at Schneider Electric as a project developer on holistic multi-million pound energy performance contracts for large scale public estates.

At Carbon Trust, he is primarily engaged with delivering energy efficiency, carbon reduction and broader sustainability ambitions for a joint venture commercial peroperty fund. Key projects have included the development of the fund’s Net Zero Commitment, net zero asset acquisition assessments and developing the specifications for the recent asset refurbishments.

Jonathan acts as a consultant for other Carbon Trust teams on real estate and technical building projects, notably on transformational lending frameworks and green bond frameworks. His expertise is also applied as Carbon Trust’s Head of Environment and is responsible for the sustainable performance of the organisation, the accredited ISO management system and delivering on long term emissions reduction targets.

Anna Turitsyna

Digital Power Account Manager

Schneider Electric

Anna is an Account Manager in Schneider Electric’s Digital Power division, focusing on energy monitoring and power management in buildings. She holds a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronic Engineering from University College London, where she was also involved in several environmental and sustainability societies. Since joining Schneider Electric in 2020, Anna has strived to better educate herself and her customers on what sustainability means for them and how to meet their energy targets.

Jules Barker

Global Director of Product

WiredScore

Jules Barker is Global Director of Product at WiredScore, responsible for the creation, delivery and evolution of all products and associated services, including the WiredScore digital connectivity certification and SmartScore.

Jules joined WiredScore in 2020 from British Land, a UK based developer and landlord. There he led the Smart Places team, responsible for developing the company’s strategy for using technology to create outstanding places, and then devising and delivering products to make this a reality.

Jules’ background is in business strategy working at Bain and Co and BP. He started his career in the British Army where he commanded tanks and skied quite a lot, and has also worked as a postman, a binman and a juice innovator.

Jules is fascinated by the changes technology is driving across the world and is a great believer that tech can change our world for the better, if we manage not to destroy ourselves with it first.
