The challenge of making existing real estate Smart

Wednesday 12th October 12:15 - 13:00

Management

With Landlords and owner-occupiers wanting to drive better energy and carbon reporting as well as reduce carbon and operational costs, existing real estate will often need a method added to achieve this beyond what the utility meters are telling them.

“Smart Buildings” as a term means so many different things. Our approach is to provide as much information as possible, along with automation and user experience improvements all whilst being agnostic of where the data resides and what equipment is being used, is an approach that has been matured by us over the last 8 years.

In this session we will look at what can be done and how to improve the reporting, explain practically how the data can be used to show what can be done to reduce energy consumption, and allow interoperability between systems improving the cause and effect scenarios for FM teams, as well as allowing tenants or owners to get the best from a building for the users. It will concentrate on existing buildings and what is required to provide a solution that can deliver all the outcomes agreed.

Having been in technology and engineering since 1979 I thrive on constantly learning new things. I started providing MSI services back in July 2014 when I started a team that made Smart Buildings come to life.

The first MSI in the UK project was a 770,000 sq.ft. iconic building for a global investment bank in the city of London. My team and I learned every day on that project and many of the principles we discovered and have since developed now form part of a very successful delivery team backed by own in house software development team.

We have developed a unique approach to Smart Buildings as a whole that is founded on practical deliverable principles. We don't talk the art of the possible, we show how it can be done. Words are easy to write, showing is proof we understand it and that is what we do collectively as a team.
